What's behind the name?
Actually the name Iris had crossed our mind since... forever. We've always wanted to name our daughter Iris if we had one.
Iris means rainbow in greek; also the name of greek's rainbow goddess. It is also the name of a flower. And not least, the name of structure which gives color to the eyes.
For us, it is the first meaning that touches more: Iris as rainbow. Our beautiful rainbow.
The search for middle name was a struggle :) it was husband who finally came out with the name Rahima, the night before the labor after months and months of search and hundreds of name proposed by the wife (exagerated off course)... in the end, Rahima was inspired by one of Allah's asmaul husna "ar-rahim" which means the merciful.
The last or family name is none to be explained :D
So there, the story behind the name.
Another thing I'd like to share is this one morning when i was newly pregnant on my way to the office, the radio played two songs in a row.. the first being daughter by pearl jam, and the second was iris by the goo goo dolls. It striked me :) what if... it's a girl..and why not we name her Iris...?
:)
Welcome again little rainbow. May your presence to this world bring colours and joy just like a rainbow after the rain. Aamiin.
